This was an exercise is representing the nostalgia I feel toward objects. My technique was based on two assumptions:
- We tend to remember things through rose-colored glasses
- In the end it’s not really about the object, but rather the object’s ability to be a vehicle for a memory
I used red and blue markers to write stories on the objects–red for the bulk of the text and blue for the words or phrases that made the story meaningful to me. I then photographed the object through red plastic, to mute the red words and allow the blue words to stand out. I chose to use white objects so they themselves faded into the background.
