Low-Tech Magazine: Doubts on Progress and Technology

Low Tech Magazine is written by Kris De Decker.

The magazine publishes 12 stories per year on the topics of obsolete technology, ecotech myths, and low-tech solutions. The premise of the magazine is the rejection of the idea that every problem requires a high-tech solution.

“Low-tech Magazine talks about the potential of past and often forgotten knowledge and technologies when it comes to designing a sustainable society…interesting possibilities arise when you combine old technology with new knowledge and new materials, or when you apply old concepts and traditional knowledge to modern technology.”

Interestingly, the author makes a point of “keep[ing] an eye on what is happening in the developing world, where resource constraints often lead to inventive, low-tech solutions.”
